Blessed are the peacemakers? The Gaza peace plan - destined to fail

I read with interest this week the Gaza peace plan as forced upon Hamas and accepted by Israel. I wish I could share the optimism of those that quote and continue to quote "blessed are the peacemakers" over the deal.

In the last two years, popular opinion has turned even further against Israel. I don't believe that to be an accident. If you read my earlier post series entitled "Global War", you'll see that the world needs to move into two main camps - those that are for and those that are against Israel. Israel's actions have certainly seen more countries and more mass of people move into the against category while the USA has stood strong as Israel's defender.

What will happen next? No-one knows. But the Bible is very clear on the end game here and so we should not expect things to get better. Israel is likely to become even more of an international pariah and to isolate itself (rightly or wrongly) further.

It's pointless to speculate how this might unfold. No-one expected that the end result of Hamas' butchery would be that Israel loses a PR war but that has exactly what has unfolded. We do not always understand the workings of God's plan or see how they will fit into place but it is certain that they will. Our job is to trust in His Word and look for the signs that precede the return of Christ to this earth.
